Who will be my counsellor?
Our assessment team will find your ‘best-fit’ counsellor following a thorough assessment process. Your counsellor is a well-supervised, final year trainee of The Albany Centre’s Diploma in Counselling, they follow the ethical framework of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and have regular clinical supervision each month to ensure safe and professional practice.
How long are the sessions, and how often?
Sessions are 50 minutes, either in person or online, and are weekly. We find weekly therapy works best, and we are not able to facilitate more or less frequent sessions.
How will I know if a trainee counsellor is right for me?
Once we receive your initial enquiry, we will set up an initial assessment to determine your needs and if we are the right fit for you. If we aren’t, we can refer you on to The Albany Centre practitioners and/or other signposts.
What if I don’t ‘click’ with my counsellor?
Mosaic Counselling is not a crisis service and your counsellor is not accessible outside of session. If you are in need of urgent support or in crisis and live in Hertfordshire please speak to your GP, or call Single Point of Access (SPA) freephone number: 0800 6444 101 which is open 24/7. You can also ring 111 and chose Option 2 for the NHS Mental Health Crisis Team.
Can I end at any time?
Yes, you can end at any time. We would always encourage an ending session with your counsellor once you have decided to finish, or work towards an ending.
What are your counselling rooms like?
Our comfortable counselling rooms are based at The Albany Centre, Victoria St, St Albans AL1 3JD. These rooms are located on the 1st floor of the building and unfortunately are not currently wheelchair accessible. However, online sessions are available if our location is not suitable.
